Normally Sam is well out by now. I'm watching tv and I hear him giggling from the other side of the room, so I go to see if he's awake and giggling or asleep and giggling about a dream. He's wide awake. Wondering what was so funny, I watched him for a bit.

He'd gone and flung his paci halfway across the bed (retrieved by me and put on the nightstand) and was sucking his thumb. Now, he'd been trying to get his thumb in his mouth since the day he was born. I'd had ultrasounds where I could see him sucking his thumb in the womb even. Problem was he didn't have the control to get it reliably to his mouth. Well, just a few minutes ago he was sucking his thumb for a minute, then he'd smile. He'd pull his thumb out, look at it with a goofy grin, giggle for a minute, and then back in it would go to be sucked for another minute or two. He did this about 5 times in a row before falling asleep again. He's finally done it. He's finally found his thumb and managed to keep it where he wants it.

Pacis are good and over now, I suspect. Definately a thumb sucker, that one.

Well, 'Score One for the Home Team!', is that the thought, Sam? If it is, I agree. Good work, sweetpea! In my family, learning to control a limb is a highly celebrated event. I'll have a piece of cake for you, though, since you're so far away and have no teeth. (^-^)
