We know bits and pieces, yes, but we all seem to go into livejournal and post with the impression that all on our friends lists know quite a bit about us... the mundane details, if you will.

And now, a bit about
I am 21 years old and not a native Texan. I'm married to a 25 year old man and have a 20 month old daughter. We have just recently moved back in together after a rough patch of no work and no money. The most exciting thing to happen to me in the past few weeks? Jeff brought home a vacuum cleaner for me last night. Yup, that's it. I got giddy over a vacuum. :)
I enjoy listening to music, nearly all types except rap and country, and even those have a few exceptions, such as Garth Brooks (old Garth, not new Garth). Some of my favourite bands are the Stone Roses, the Beatles, REM, Oasis, Blink 182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Duran Duran, Wham!, Cyndi Lauper, Tori Amos, Frank Sinatra... get the picture? I have eclectic tastes. :) The same runs for movies. I like the girly "dramadies" like When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, everything else Meg Ryan has done, The Matchmaker, The Truth About Cats and Dogs. But I also like sci-fi movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, ET, The Matrix, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But you could also say I have an obsession with children's movies... anything by Disney (except Pocohantas... could they have screwed that up any more? probably not), The Last Unicorn, The Labyrinth, Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer, the Care Bears movies... the list goes on and on. That contrasts with my love of oddball movies like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Velvet Goldmine (mmm... nakey Ewan!), Death to Smoochie, and holding a special place in my heart, Donnie Darko. Just don't ask my favourite movie... I can't pick.
I'm an avid reader of sci-fi/fantasy, historic novels, classics, and general fiction. I'm not a fan of mysteries and I really don't like the "trashy" romance novels of the day. Give me Jane Eyre and I'm happy... now THAT's a romance novel. I adore Little Women and still, even after reading it at least once a year since I was probably 8 or 9, still cry when Beth dies... I cry like I've never read that part before.
I'm into building with LEGOS. The Harry Potter sets are of particular interest to me, but I enjoy just free-style building as well.
I adore Anime. I love Neon Genesis: Evangelion, Slayers (and all subsequent series), Kanon, El Hazard, Fushi Yugi, and so many others... ever so many others. I just can't get enough Anime.
I'm very much in love with horses and was, at one time, a showjumper. I even won a few ribbons in the stable competitions, but I was never one for the competing part of it and so didn't go past those. I did it because I love riding, not because I wanted to win ribbons and trophies.
I enjoy cooking, but especially baking. It has been rumored amongst my friend's of old that I make the best brownies, cakes, and chocolate chip cookies they've ever had. Not to mention my family recipe, tweaked slightly for my tastes, spaghetti sauce. All I need to do is let out word that I'm making some, and I'll end up with three or four unexpected dinner guests. :)
My favourite colours are blue, purple, and silver. Black is good when mixed in with any of them, however it's no so good on it's own... especially if I'm wearing it as it tends to make me look vampiric.
I've a slight obsession with Crayola crayons. I refuse to buy any other kind and though I'm not even remotely an artist I enjoy colouring with them.
I'm desperate to live in either Manchester, England (or anywhere in England really, but Manchester because I'm a rabid fan of the best footy team in the world, Manchester United) or Iceland. Iceland is a newer idea, since I've learned so much about it through Hildi and misspince. It sounds like the most wonderful country.
So that's a bit about me. I'd like to hear a bit about all of you as well. :)
So that's it, I suppose. I'm going to lunch with Angua9 on Thursday and am excited about that as she's a wonderful lady and I greatly enjoy her company. This will also be our first meeting without a varying combination of our husbands and her children. Thursday will be her first meeting of Alex. :)

Date: 2003-02-11 04:20 pm (UTC)In my Italian food upbringing, a good true spaghetti or lasagne better take all day to cook or it itsn't really spaghetti or lasagne, just a clever imitation of it. :)
This is not to downplay your spaghetti by any means. I myself make the out of the jar/made an hour before dinner spaghetti from time to time. But I have always prefered my all-day spaghetti... mmmm... spaghetti.
