HBP and ORXmoot
Jul. 17th, 2005 11:59 amStarted reading about 1am, once we managed to return everybody back to the Evil ORX Lair safely (and nobody got lost or left behind, yay!) and was settled.
Laid down for a nap about 7am. Woke up to finish reading somewhere between 8:30 and 9am. Finished yesterday at 10am.

Also, some thoughts on ORXmoot.
It was great to meet everybody, to read the book in a group. I feel a bit more of an outsider this summit, but that's mostly because I'm not spending 24 hours a day at the ORX Lair. I have my own local place, with my own local family, and my own local kitties to take care of. So not being there for all the fun and action, well, not a big deal, as I suppose I'd be worse off today than I am had I been in the whirlwind of fun and excitement all the time.
I got to meet some great friends, enjoyed reading the book with Joie, The ORXling Princess (props to her for staying up all night to finish too! I'm very impressed!), Krista, and Nate. We seemed to read about the same speed, so it worked that we all ended up in a room together while the faster ones all congregated in the other rooms. This was not planned, it just seemed to work out that way.
Also, um, Rachel? Love you darling, but what was up with the random exclimation of "Oh, fuck that shit!" sometime in the wee hours of the morning? I'm still rather lost as to where it came from...
Anyway, got everybody safely (although mostly late) in on Thursday despite the rain. I hope nobody was too terribly bored at my place while I taxied from the airport and back. Now getting everybody out safely today is proving tricky.
I feel kind of bad, slacking on my appointed duties, but really... I just did too much this weekend. The whole driving/dinner/bookstore/up 24 hours straight/reading in one fell swoop thing really just did me in. Were I not pregnant, were my body handling it better, were Jamie not giving me hell in there, I probably would have been okay. But I'm just dead today and all the sleep last night didn't seem to help much.

major_dallas for stepping up to help with the driving from the ORX Lair to IAH, too. I hate making him go out of his way for it all, but I really REALLY REALLY appreciate it. He's quite the gentleman, ladies, and I'm surprised he hasn't been snatched up yet! Somebody go get him. I would, but I'm already taken. ;)
Not like he'll ever see this either, but Kirk? EAT SOMETHING! You've lost weight and now you're too skinny. I worry about you.
