Baby Stories!
Dec. 14th, 2002 08:13 pmAh, it's been awhile since I've done a baby story update. She's getting so big... she's really a toddler now, but she'll always be my baby. She talks alot now and says so very much it's scary. Her vocabulary is huge. She says colours, though she's not often right. She says numbers, though once again, not often right.
Baby Story #1: In our brand spanking new SuperTarget a few weeks back, I was walking the aisles trying to find something to give my brother-in-law. He's a sports nut so I was thinking something sporty. As Alex and I were meandering the store avoiding all 10 aisles of Christmas decorations (no Thanksgiving anything, and this was all before Thanksgiving) and watching the employees clear a large space for the artificial trees, I came upon the sporting goods aisles. I pushed Alex around until we hit the soccer balls (which by BIL does NOT like at all... he calls it a strange foreign sport... erm... okay...). She immediatly reached out for one and started screaming "Football! Football!" and wouldn't stop until I handed her one. She clutched it to her chest and smiled and said very quietly "football" and kicked her legs in contentment. We didn't buy it then, but needless to say, she's getting a football soon. :)
Baby Story #2: She refuses to eat baby food and will only eat what I'm having for lunch and dinner. She even asks for milk on her cereal! Yesterday I brought her down for breakfast and asked what she wanted. "Eeros" so I made her a small bowl of Cheerios. I asked if she wanted milk. "Uh-huh." so I put milk on it. She sits in her high chair, eats the entire bowl of cereal without spilling a drop of milk (and only one Cheerio), and then reaches for a cup of juice I had out for the 5 year old. It's a cup with a straw, and to my amazement, she doesn't tip it up but instead holds it very carefully parallel to her chest and drinks from the straw! Now she's been able to handle a straw for about 6 months now, however we always had to hold the cup because she'd tip it up like she does with her sippy cup.
Baby Story #3: Elmo comes on telly and she walks up and says "Elmo!" which is cute, but the real surprise came when she the Wiggles came on and she stood in front of the telly for the whole half hour trying very very hard to do all the dance moves. She did manage about half of them. She now tells me when it's time to turn on the Wiggles and Sesame Street. She says Blue's Clues when it's time for Blue's Clues. She even tries to say Ground Force, but it doesn't work.
Baby Story #4: She has a puzzle with pictures under the shapes. She pulls out the oval and says "football!" to the football underneath. She pulls out the circle and says "tick tock!" to the clock. She pulls out the trapezoid and says "oat" for the boat, the pentagon and says "ome" for the home, the rectangle and says "ool bus" for the school bus. She pulls out the octogon and screams "STOP!" very loudly.
Snipet of baby info: She says "NO!" whenever she doesn't like what I say or do. She's good at the word no. She says "Amma" for Gramdma. She says "Ampa" for Grampa. Have you noticed a trend? She always leaves the first few letters off words... we're working on that.
Baby Story #5: Today she walked up to my mother with her cup and held it out. She looked straight at my mom and said "Oda pop pees" and my mom was so shocked she actually poured a full sippy cup of Sprite for Alex. Now Alex doesn't usually get soda. Every now and then she gets some Sprite or Coke as a treat, but it's never very often and it's never a full cup. But it's the first time she not only said exactly what she wanted without whinging first, but it was the first time she said soda pop AND the first time she said please without being prompted to.
This is a very long post already, so I will stop with the cute baby stories and leave with it with me saying I have a very smart little girl.
Oh, and Circe luv, you have a package heading your way. It's out in the post on Monday, as I didn't make it in time for todays post to pick it up. It's got something for you, all three kiddos, and Edward, though I don't think he'll like his. :) I had to guess at what to send for him as I don't know his likes and dislikes. Please let him know I won't be offended if he doesn't like what I sent for him.
While many people are sending out Christmas cards, I just don't have the money to go and buy a whole bunch this year, but I am making some cards. If you want one I need an address to send it to, and please let me know if you want a Christmas card, a belated Hanukkah card, or a general holiday/seasons card with no specific religious connotation. I do all three. Email me at queenriley01@yahoo.com and you are likely to get one, though it may come late for Christmas and will most definately be late for Hanukkah, as Hanukkah was over last week. If it's a general card you want it won't be late as winter lasts for another two months (two weeks here... if I'm lucky to get it to extend that long). I CAN handle overseas shipping on a simple card, so if you want one and don't live in the US, no worries, just send me the addy anyway. MissPince and Hildi, I'm talking to you on that specifically. Send me your addresses. I would really really like to mail you both something, even if it is just a card (and maybe a drawing by Alex or something small).
Goodbye from "Mummy"
