Well, Angua9 was right on the 5 she guessed, even the one she was iffy about. Soupytwist must be a super genius... either that or she has a photographic memory. :) She got 9 out of 12. Wow.

Anway, here are the

1. Little Women- Angua9 and soupytwist both guessed this one, but then, it was rather obvious. Has been a favourite "curl-up" book of mine since I was old enough to read more than Dr. Seuss. I'm on my third copy, since I wore my first and second one out.

2. About a Boy- soupytwist was the only one to guess this one

3. Not a single person guessed this one. And you call yourselves science fiction/fantasy fans? It's The Nine Princes of Amber, book one of the ten original books of the Amber Chronicles by Roger Zelazney. I love all ten, and just figured I'd use the first one. :)

4. Misty of Chincoteague, a favourite of mine since I was about 8, guessed by Angua9. I once visited Chincoteague and saw the real Misty... she's stuffed and kept in a room for viewing by visitors to the original Beebe farm.

5. The Two Towers, guessed by both soupytwist and Angua9. It's my favourite of the three, and since everybody else was doing the first line of Fellowship to represent all three, I figured I'd just stick with my favourite.

6. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- both guessed it, but it was beyond obvious. :)

7. One True Thing by Anna Quindlan- guessed by soupytwist who "vaguely remembers" it. Well worth a read, or re-read. Very sad read, but a good read. Anna Quindlan can write human emotions and experiances without knocking you over the head with it.

8. Not a single one of you guessed it, and I really oughtn't be surprised as I've discovered there aren't a great many fans of this book. Lots of readers, not a lot of repeat readers. It's Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Ender's Game, the first in the series, is what most people read and remember. My favourite is Ender's Shadow, however, telling mostly the same story as Ender's Game only from Bean's point of view, not Ender's. It's great!

9. The House at Pooh Corner. You can never be too old for Winnie the Pooh. :)

10. Angua9 was familiar with it but struggling to remember, and soupytwist got it outright. It's To Kill A Mockingbird. I adore that book. Atticus has been my hero since elementary school.

11. The Diary of Anne Frank, also titled Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Soupytwist was the only to get this one too. Good and inspiring book.

12. This one also bothered Angua9, but soupy got it right off. It's Jane Eyre. Such a good love story. :) I've always adored it. I thought more of you would guess that one.

Well that's about all of an update for now. It was a busy but boring weekend involving much laundry and other cleaning.

Rats! I've read this a fair few times, but not for many years. It didn't even sound familiar. :-(

And yes, Soupytwist is obviously a book first line genius.

9. The House at Pooh Corner. You can never be too old for Winnie the Pooh. :)

Have you started reading it to Alex yet?

To be entirely fair with the Zelazney books, the first line of Nine Princes isn't very specific to the books themselves. It could go in any book really.

And yes, I've started reading Winnie the Pooh to Alex. We haven't reached the House at Pooh Corner yet, but then, she can barely sit still long enough for one chapter at a time, so it might be awhile. :)
