ashavah asked me about

Rock on, little Emo Kid. This is Sam. He's my Emo Kid. He's actually a generally happy little guy, but when left to sit and be on his own, he tends to get very thoughtful. When he gets thoughtful, he gets pensive. When he gets pensive, he looks insanely stereotypically Emo. So I dubbed him my Little Emo Kid. Having him flash the sad little hopeless world look at me while holding a guitar just really sealed the deal so I made an icon. :D

What Would Alton Cook? I love Good Eats. It's a great show. I've learned a lot about cooking on the fly and how to properly substitute due to Good Eats. Without Alton Brown, I would still be hopeless in the kitchen, churning out the same bland, tasteless, overcooked meals I used to. But now I know better. Besides, he's all geeky!cute with his food knowledge.

This is my sad icon. I use it when going through hard times or when others are going through something particularly difficult. It's from Beauty and the Beast, when Belle goes exploring where she oughtn't.

Magen david. Star of David. Symbol of Judaism. Mine are all silver or blue as normally I'm not a big fan of gold, but for some reason this icon really struck my fancy. So I use it when posting about anything remotely related to Judaism.

Jack and Ianto. Oh the pretty. I really like this scene, where Jack is all heartbroken and Ianto knows exactly what he needs. Instead of pushing Jack to open up and tell him everything, Ianto just kisses him instead, offers him support in that "I'm here right now and that's good enough for right now" kind of way. So very much them. (and they're pretty)
hildigunnur asked me about

Chuck! This is from Chuck. It's Chuck sitting on a beach. He's being all introspective in the scene, but I love the little heart and the imagery. It's kind of generic if you don't know Chuck, so I like that it works with all kinds of posts for all kinds of topics.

John Sheppard and Rodney McKay from Stargate: Atlantis. They're being dorky and adorable together, which somebody at some point dubbed "adorkable". This is my OTP for SGA and I love the boys best when they're being uber-dorks together.

This is Bridge Carson from Power Rangers SPD. He is probably the most interesting fleshed out character they ever made in the entire 13 or so series of Power Rangers (which, admittedly, isn't saying much, but still... he had actual consistent personality). I love him to pieces and the quote "heart with a view" is very much fitting for Bridge and all his little quirks. This is currently my only Power Rangers icon uploaded, though I have more on the computer.

Battlestar Galactica, Lee Adama and Kara Thrace (Apollo and Starbuck respectively) hugging. Throughout the series they were the compliment to other. They knew when and how to offer support and nothing, not even death and mysterious resurrection, could break that bond. I use this hug for my supportive comments or posts because, well, it's a hug.

This is a sedar plate! We use this during the big Pesach (Passover) meals which happen the first two nights of the week long Pesach observance. The food is symbolic to the themes of Pesach and the story of the Exodus. The food bits are actually quite small portions, the main meal comes after the symbolism is discussed and the story of Exodus read. The main mean differs depending on your own family traditions, but the little portions on the sedar plate are pretty much the same no matter who you have a sedar with. I uploaded this one because Pesach is coming soon (about a week, starts on the 8th of April this year) and I'll use it during my updates that week.

Date: 2009-04-01 08:12 pm (UTC)I uploaded one icon that was meant to be a sort of "general" thing, but I think I use my default for that instead, so I'm sort of thinking of replacing it. I don't know what mood I should choose instead, though.

Date: 2009-04-01 07:35 pm (UTC)And yes, now you know! Here is a basic overview of Pesach if you were interested in learning more. It has a section for just the sedar plate so you can see what all the food is and what it represents.

Date: 2009-04-01 08:02 pm (UTC)And thanks for the Pesach link. You know we call Easter Páskar in Icelandic and I believe it's derived from the Hebrew word.
