Mr. Hubbell

I don't think there are many ex-Questies on my friends list anymore. If there any, you should at least know (and those of you that are left, pass this on to anyone who might want to know)...
Bevin told me yesterday... Mr. Hubbell passed away early in the morning on December 13th. I recieved details today.
He fell out of his deer blind on December 2nd. He did some damage to his back. As those of us who knew him remember, his back has always given him trouble. He was out basically an entire semester due to back surgery when I was in school. The doctors thought he was getting better, but apparently not. It could have been the painkillers, it could have been the damage, I don't know that much yet. I just know what happened to put him in the hospital and that he collapsed and died yesterday.
Mr. Hubbell was a big teddy bear. The man scared me during my interview, but when I was put in his family, my mind changed completely. During my time at Quest he guided me, he taught me, he counseled me. He gave me the name Bucky. He never let me use my size as an excuse. He sheltered me when I needed it, but pushed me out when the time called for it. When I came up pregnant a year after graduation, he was one of 3 people who were actually happy for me. He was one of only 2 to tell me I was doing the right thing by keeping my baby. He made it okay for me. My father is, to this day, the only other person to tell me I was doing what was right, that he was proud of me.
I wish I was in Houston right now. I wish I could go over to his house, talk to his wife, his kids, his grandkids, bring some food. I'm too far away for all that, but I'm going to send flowers.
If any of you have the chance, send a note or something to his family. Just do something, in memory of a great man.
