sick... very very sick...
Oct. 20th, 2002 08:12 pmI am sick. I am very very sick. Alex was sick with the same thing I have, but luckily, she's got health insurance so she's been to the doctor and is on antibiotics to kill the eeevvvviiiiiillll bacteria that took over when the cold knocked us down. She's feeling much better and takes her medicine like a good girl (only spit the amoxicillan at me once, and luckily it was a shirt I didn't like anyway). I, on the other hand, have to suffer through this. The sudafed stopped working. The DayQuil isn't working on anything but my nasal congestion. I'm at a loss as to what to try. I swear, last night, I coughed so hard my lungs left my body, wrung themselves free of the loose phlegm, and then returned to my body so I could effectively wash the ickiness down the sink. My equilibrium is all out of whack because my ears are draining, so I'm running into walls and couldn't walk a straight line if it was flashing neon. I have no voice, none, which actually is something Alex likes because it means she can't hear it when I tell her "No!" I can't breath through my nose for all the congestion, and my chest hurts when I breath anyway. Unfortunately, I don't have health insurance (too expensive, can't afford it even though my life does depend on it) and can't afford the $100+ doctor visit and however much the prescriptions would cost. So I'll muddle through. Anybody have any good home remedies to try?
On a cute note: Alex was watching Sesame Street yesterday, and Telly Monster had misplaced his triangle from his triangle of the month club. It had been delivered to Delly Monster by mistake. Anyway, they were talking about triangles and how they have three sides, and they counted them; one, two, three. Then they said triangles have three points. Telly pointed to one and Alex made a noise and Telly said "One." Then he pointed to another one, Alex made a noise, and Telly said "Two." Then he pointed to the third one, Alex said "THREE!" and Telly said "Three." She copied what Telly had done before and counted. It was really neat.
I'm going to bed now. Sleep is good.
