Dec. 30th, 2003 08:49 amThere are two rules. First of all, you must list 10 good things about yourself. Yes, ten. If you can't think of ten, you must try harder. And you can't put yourself down. Throw modesty and low esteem to the wind! They can be about anything, as long as it's good about yourself. Sure, you're not perfect, but don't you give your flaws more than their fare share of time? Time to do something nice for yourself! And it's gotta be about you, not someone you know, or something you have.
Okay, got your 10? The second part. If you borrow the meme, you respond, and say something positive about me. Then I go search out your meme in your live journal and respond to your list. The response can be something new or cool that you admire about the person, or something that responds to one of the positive qualities they say about themselves.
1. I have a nice butt. Took getting pregnant and having a kid to get it, but I have a nice butt. I'm more appreciative of it than any other part of my body, mostly because I went so long without one. I used to have a dip in my jeans where my butt was supposed to be. Now it rounds out nicely.
2. I'm sensitive and I like that. Most people think it's a negative quality, but I choose to see the positive in it rather than the standard thought of "develop a tough skin and get over it". Being sensitive means I can empathize easier. It makes me more open to my own emotions. I think I can feel more than people who have developed "thick skins" and "can take the abuse" society throws at them.
3. I'm a good mom. I love my daughter and I try my best to do right by her.
4. I'm a good listener.
5. I take care of stray kitties who need to be looked after, including gathering scrap wood so I can eventually make a little kitty house for them to curl up in when it's cold... seeing as the cardboard boxes are getting a bit tattered. I also feed the possums and armadillos that occasionally stray through. I'm an equal opportunity animal lover.
6. I try to be unbiased and look at every angle before I form an opinion. I inform myself of current events around the world, not just in my own backyard, and do my best to get a variety of sources so I'm not wholy tainted by the media bias.
7. I am tollerant and try to be nonjudgemental
8. I'm open to spiritual development, actively seek out knowledge on a variety of religions, and respect others belief systems no matter how different from my own they may be.
9. I'm a good cook. When I actually make the effort to make a good, nutritionally rounded, big dinner, I can actually usually end up with a variety of nice flavours. I have no specialty food. I'm just as good with spaghetti as I am with fried chicken. Lasagna comes out just as nicely as tzimmes.
10. I'm an exceptionally big geek. I like being a nerd. I enjoy having the ability to recite entire movies, quote books, and successfully argue my point for why Picard was a better captain than Kirk ever could be. I revel in my knowledge of Middle Earth and the wizarding world at Hogwarts. I could spend hours discussing little known sci-fi tv shows like Earth 2 and how Seaquest shouldn't have gone past season 1. I'm proud that Star Wars is one of my first memories, and disapointed at how George Lucas has lost sight of the storyline. I am a geek.

Date: 2004-01-02 05:34 am (UTC)And here I was thinking I wasn't doing enough... I'm not used to hosting people that haven't known me and the way I run my house for years. The only other person who ever stayed over here (so far anyway) was my best rl friend, and she knows me so well she knew the layout of my kitchen before she'd ever set foot in it. :D
