In which we discover that, while I'm a big dork now, I was once
You Are a True Child of the '80s If...

1. You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE". It took me YEARS to work this out of my vocabulary.

2. You watched the Pound Puppies. Not only watched, but had large baskets full of the stuffed pound puppies... and the pound puppy puppies... the little tiny ones.

3. You can sing the rap to the "Fresh Prince of Belair" I never watched this show, but I know some of the rap.

4. You wore biker shorts under your skirts and felt stylish. Hey, this was dressy clothes... and I didn't just feel stylish. I WAS stylish. Mostly I wore the bleached and ripped jeans though.

5. You yearned to be a member of the Baby-sitters club and tried to start a club of your own. Well I didn't try to start a club of my own since I was the only one of my friends who babysat, but I did love the books.

6. You owned those lil Strawberry Shortcake pals scented dolls. I owned them second hand. They were my sister's and she gave them to me once they lost their smell.

7. You know that "WHOA" comes from Joey on Blossom. Who doesn't know that? Man he was dreamy...

8. Two words: M.C. Hammer. I didn't really get into MC Hammer until 2L2Q, but I did like him.

9. If you ever watched "Fraggle Rock". I still know the theme song.

10. You had plastic streamers on your handle bars. You bet I did! And beads on the wheel spokes.

11. You can sing the entire theme song to "Duck Tales". Not anymore, but I used to be able to do the whole thing, now I can only do the first line or two.

12. When it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. No Saturday morning line-up has ever compared to those days.

13. You wore a pony tail on the side of your head. My hair was never long enough nor thick enough for this.

14. You saw the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" on the big screen. Who didn't?

15. You got super-excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. Heck yeah! I miss that game. It was so awesome... I wonder if you can still buy it...

16. You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side. No, but I learned to tie it like that without the clip.

17. You played the game "MASH" (Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, House) with friends at school. school, sleepovers, we played all the time... and it was SHACK not Shelter...

18. You wore Jordache jean jacket and you were proud of it. No, but I wore a Wal-Mart knockoff and felt cool enough.

19. L.A. Gear. nope

20. You wanted to change your name to "JEM" in Kindergarten. No, but not because I didn't like the show (I did). It was because in kindergarten I wanted to be a boy.

21. You remember reading "Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing" and all the Ramona books. I still have them somewhere... did you know Judy Blume is writing/wrote a fourth Fudge book?

22. You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON, WAX OFF" and catching flies in mid-air with chopsticks.

23. You wanted to be a Goonie. Are you kidding? I was the female Mikey!

24. If you ever wore fluorescent clothing. guilty as charged

25. You can remember what Micheal Jackson looked like before his nose fell off. Are you kidding? I remember what he looked like when he was still black.

26. If you have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf. She wasn't the only female! There was a little kid who was a girl... she had red hair.

27. You took Lunch Pales to school. You bet I did! I had New Kids On the Block and a few others, but my favourite was my Star Trek: The Next Generation one. Yup... first season. I had the Lunch Pales. I used it for years and even when it cracked and couldn't be used anymore, I made my mother keep it. She still has it in the garage.

28. You remember the CRAZE, then the BANNING of slap bracelets. The banning was a big deal, I remember that. They still sell slap bracelets. They're making a come back.

29. You remember Robotech. I didn't watch this show. Voltron was 20 times cooler.

30. You remember Hypercolor t-shirts. You betcha. I wanted one for years.

31. Barbie and the Rockers was your favourite band. I didn't like anything having to do with Barbie.

32. You thought She-ra and He-Man should hook up. I'm counting this because of how big a fan I was of both She-Ra and He-Man even though I NEVER wanted them to hook up. I mean, c'mon people, they were twins! Brother and sister! How squicky would it be if they hooked up? Ew.

33. You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged friendship bracelets. I still wonder where Lauren Ely is today and if she ever accomplished her dream of becoming a female astronaut. And Brooke Fields... I wonder what she's up to...

34. If you ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes. In multiple colours... and I was stylin.

35. After you saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?" I'm counting this even though I didn't like the movie that much. I adored Pee-Wee's Playhouse the television show though.

36. You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up" who can forget? I always felt so bad for those poor old ladies.

37. You remember going to the skating rink before there were in-line skates. My skates had Ewoks on them.

38. If you ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide. gashed my leg open on a rock. It tore right through the Slip 'N Slide.

39. If you have ever played with a Skip-It. Mine was blue. I used it so much it died eventually. They wouldn't let me use it in the Jump Rope For Heart at school, which kind of sucked, but it was okay... I still out-jumped all the other kids there.

40. You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds. Never had one and I don't remember attending one, but I probably did at some point.

41. You've gone through this list occasionally saying "This wasn't from the 80's!"

42. You remember Popples. I had a little popple.

43. "Don't worry, be happy" I don't care what anybody says, I like this song. And Robin Williams was in the video! It was great. And the other white guy in the video plays Mr. Noodle on Elmo's World now. :)

44. You wore like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top Reeboks. Not eight, but more like four. Eight would have gone past my knees.

45. You wore socks scrunched down. I still do... is that a bad thing?

46. "Miss MARY MACK MACK MACK, all dressed in BLACK BLACK BLACK"
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back
She asked her mother, mother, mother
For fifty cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump over the fence, fence, fence
They jumped so high, high, high
They reached the sky, sky, sky
They didn't come back, back, back
'Till the 4th of July, July, July.
And I remember the hand movements that went with it.

47. You remember boom boxes vs cd players. I didn't hear about cd players until the mid-90's.

48. You remember watching both "Gremlins" movies. I wasn't allowed to watch these... still haven't seen them.

50. You remember watching Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony Tales. I wanted to BE Rainbow Brite.

51. You thought Doogie Howser was hot. I liked Vinny better... but y'know what... this show didn't air until '89, so can we really count it as 80's?

52. You remember Alf, the lil furry brown alien from Melmac. From before the 1-800-COLLECT commercials. I'm not counting this because I didn't watch the show, even though I do remember him.

53. You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool. I was a regular NKOTB groupie! I didn't speak to my mother for a week because she wouldn't let me go to the concert.

54. You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By the Bell", the ORIGINAL class. You bet. Anybody else remember the episode where Jessie got addicted to some kind of stay-awake pills? Yup, and she and Slater were the perfect couple... and Zack and Kellie. And poor Screech. I liked him.

55. You know all the words to Bon Jovi - SHOT THRU THE HEART. Why stop there? I know all the words to just about every song off of Slippery When Wet... knew them then, know them now. Bon Jovi rocks my socks.

56. You remember the Thundercats and transformers. Thundercats I wasn't a big fan of, but I loved Transformers. I used to have a whole bunch of them, even the Decepticons, but I think they ended up as yard sale stuff throughout the years.

And hey, look!

HASH(0x86f4b78)
Epona is the wise and humble Goddess of horses. She
enlightened fools, and aided those in need. You
have a sweet persona, but that dosent mean
you're innocent. If you see one being unjustly
persecuted, you're there to help.
