In a few days I'll copy the likes of Kirk and Lilac and give my own answers. But I'll give you lot a crack at it first.
Saturday night we bought Jeff his truck. Finally. We've spent a little over a month dealing with slimey car salesmen trying to get the truck he wanted for a decent price. We even got to the point we were going to get a truck he didn't want just because it was the right price. I got fed up and finally went to carmax.com and low and behold, there it was. The truck we were looking for. Just listed there on carmax waiting for us. For the right price too. So I called and spent two days with the salesman going over the financing, getting answers to my questions, etc etc etc. He answered everything straightforward, never danced around my questions. He never jacked around with the price. He was happy to do everything over the phone since the location was on the other side of Houston and would have been a heck of a drive for us to make for all that stuff. All we had to go do in person was sign the papers and drive away with the truck. And so we did. Jeff now owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier king cab. It's blue, a very pretty blue. It only had 8,600 someodd miles on it when we got it for him. All three of us can comfortably sit in it too. Jeff in the drivers seat (he finally found something that doesn't squish his 6'2" frame against the steering wheel and dash), Alex in the passanger seat in her carseat (with the airbag turned off... it has the option of turning the airbag off with the key, it's great), and me in the back on the jumpseats that fold down. If anybody larger than me tried to sit back there, they'd be insanely uncomfortable. But as I'm so small, it works nicely. :D And you know the great part about it? I found the car. Me. I found exactly what Jeff wanted, I did the dealing, I got every question I could think Jeff would want to ask answered, got everything I wanted to know answered. I did everything. All Jeff did was sign the paperwork. And men say women can't car shop... ha! I did it BY MYSELF without a man there to guide me and help me. So there.
This means I HAVE MY CAR BACK! I am now free to go anywhere during the week. I can go to the grocery store if I want. I could go to WalMart or the mall at 10 on a Tuesday if the mood struck me. I can take Alex to parks that don't have broken glass strewn about on the ground. Heck, I could drive downtown for lunch if I wanted (hint, hint). :D I'm happy. I missed having freedom.
Side note: ten points and a batch of cookies to anybody who can tell me where my "current music" selection comes from. ;)
