Cute Baby Story
Feb. 5th, 2003 09:23 pmSo it's a bit after 9 then. Alex ought to be asleep, but she's been running a bit of a fever tonight and so I've given her Tylenol to lower it a bit. That means she's still awake, but laying happily in her crib and having a "rest". She'll fall asleep on her own eventually. Normally she's in bed at 7 and asleep by 7:30. Tylenol makes her a bit punchy, however, so she's up and being silly, but at least she's not lethargic, zoney, nor running a fever anymore. So where is the cute baby story in this, you're asking?
I've just gone back into the bedroom to calm her down a bit as she was getting rather excited and jumping in her crib. I mostly leave her alone when she's up at night, unless she's crying. As it is, she's in her room, the door is open, and she can see me over the top rail of her crib and above the small bookcase by the door. The computer desk is in plain sight, so she's happy. I can see her head when she looks over at me, but nothing below her chin unless I get up and go in the room. So I go back to the room to have a look and make her lay down when she runs to the corner of her crib laughing hysterically. I look. Her pajama's have been taken off. Her diaper is on crooked, showing obvious signs of at least halfway, most likely entire, removal and refastening. Her sheets are wet in one spot, and the edge of her diaper is wet, making it look as if she took her diaper off, realized she was peeing, and attempted to put her diaper back on in the process. It's also only wet in the back, not the middle. She is rushing to put her jammies back on before I get there, successfully putting her arms through the leg holes, inside out of course. She couldn't figure out why the zipper wouldn't work and was in the back and not the front where it was supposed to be. Once I stopped laughing, I picked her up, put a fresh diaper on her, changed her jammies and pinned them so she couldn't get the zipper down, changed her sheets, and put her back in bed. She's now "reading" a book all by herself very calmly in the crib.
So that's my cute baby story. I often wonder if all children do things like this. And do all mothers find it as amusing as I do, even though it means changing urine smelling sheets at 9:00 at night when one would rather be sleeping? Do all mothers find it as amusing as I do, even though wrestling a toddler into footy jammies and trying to pin them without poking the toddler is a feat in and of itself, worthy of Olympic sports? I sure hope so. :)
