A Very Special Birthday

6 years ago today, Tropical Storm Allison was battering Houston. 6 years ago today, thousands were without power, without homes, without their most precious belongings.

6 years ago today I was in the hospital. 6 years ago today, my most precious belonging, one I almost lost, was cut from my womb and given to me, alive and screaming.

I almost lost her, and then because of the c-section and complications that came after, we almost lost me.

It was a very stressful, very gory week. :P
